Corozal cab driver victimized
A Corozal taxi driver was the victim of a brutal attack on Monday night. Gregorio Monteroso was hired to take two fares, described as being Hispanic descent men, to the Finca Solana area of Corozal town. Once at the designated area, the Hispanic men further asked to be taken to the Chula Vista area; but while on the way to that second destination, one of the men reportedly took out a firearm and hit Monteroso in the face with it. Police say the assailants proceeded to relieve Monteroso of $45 and his cell phone. Police say the assailants further pushed Monteroso out of his car, valued at $4,000, and made good their escape. Police say when they went to the Corozal community hospital, they saw Gregorio Monteroso with a swollen face and bleeding from the nose. Police investigations are ongoing.
