Bush fires reported in rural Orange Walk

Orange Walk town. Thursday, April 9, 2015. Residents of August Pine Ridge village are on high alert for bush fires which have been threatening their homes.
Bush fires occur every year around this time in the area; but magnitude of the occurrence so far has prompted Chairman of the village Ismael Blanco to conclude that the fires are being deliberately set.
So far it is estimated that some 200 acres of land around August Pine Ridge village have been affected by bush fires and residents have been closely monitoring the situation to avoid destruction of their home.
