Early morning shooting in Roaring Creek leaves one dead, one hospitalized
Roaring Creek village, Cayo. Saturday, April 11, 2015. An early Saturday morning shooting incident in Roaring Creek village, Cayo has left one man dead and another hospitalized in serious condition.
The deceased has been identified as 24 year Jermaine Welcome.
24 year old Allan Garbutt, who sustained gunshot injuries to the right hip and shoulder, was first taken to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan, then later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial in Belize City where he is undergoing treatment.
According to reports, Welcome and Garbutt were on the verandah of a house in the Hattieville area of Roaring Creek around 1:28 am when a lone gunman emerged from behind a parked vehicle and opened fire, hitting the two men.
Welcome succumbed to the injury he sustained about an hour after the shooting, while undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital.
Police investigations continue.
