Corozal businessman is the victim of theft
Corozal Town. Monday, May 4, 2015. A Corozal businessman is out $7,000 after an enterprising thief decided to use the pen rather than his muscle to get some money.
The theft was discovered at the end of April when the businessman received a call from the bank saying that someone was trying to cash a cheque made out to his account that had apparently been “tampered” with.
The cheque, in the amount of $2,200, was not initialed where the “tampering” had occurred and that is what triggered the call from the bank.
It was later discovered that a total of three cheques had been stolen from the businessman and had been cashed, two of them in the name of a former employee.
Corozal police are now looking for two men as their investigation of this case of theft continues.
