BDF officer accused of burglarizing BSAG headquarters
Belize City, Belize. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Police have recovered a Beretta pistol alleged to have been stolen from the headquarters of the Belize Special Assignment Group, BSAG located on the compound of the Belize Defence Force at Price Barracks, Ladyville on April 30.
Today private in the Belize Defence Force, 23 year old Jamel Webster, pleaded not guilty to a charge of burglary before Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith.
He was offered bail of $2,000, of which half must be paid in cash.
Webster was ordered to surrender his passport to the court and not apply for any new travel document or leave the country without the court’s permission.
Additionally he is to report to Ladyville Police Station every Monday and Friday.
Private Webster is alleged to have trespassed in the BSAG offices at the Barracks and taken the $2,000 pistol.
He returns to court on July 31.
