Orange Walk men arraigned on arson charge
Orange Walk town. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Two men were formally arraigned on a single charge of arson when they appeared in the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.
Efrain Alpuche and Saul Vasquez are accused of allegedly setting fire to a cane field belonging to Belize Sugar Industries/American Sugar Refinery.
The incident reportedly happened on Monday. No plea was taken from Alpuche and Vasquez and the matter will be tried on indictment in the Supreme Court.
Alpuche and Vasquez were both offered bail in the sum of $40,000, plus a surety of the same amount and are to reappear in court on June 2.
As a condition of their bail, Alpuche and Vasquez were ordered by the court to report to the Orange Walk Police station weekly until their next court date and they must not interfere with personnel of BSI/ASR.
