Tropical Wave approaches; increase in showers expected

San Ignacio town, Cayo. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. A Tropical Wave will cross the country on Thursday and support an increase in cloudiness and showers.

The forecast for Belize and her coastal waters is for partly cloudy skies tonight.

A few showers or thunderstorms will occur mainly over the south.

Tomorrow will be cloudy with some showers and thunderstorms over most areas.

Winds over the open sea and along the coast will be easterly at ten to twenty knots, with higher gusts near showers and thunderstorms.

The sea state will be choppy becoming locally rough at times.  Operators of small craft are advised to exercise caution in rough seas.

Low temperatures tonight will be around seventy nine degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; seventy four degrees Fahrenheit inland and a cool seventy degrees Fahrenheit up in the hills.

High temperatures on Thursday will range from eighty six degrees Fahrenheit along coastal areas to ninety degrees Fahrenheit inland.

It will be a comfortable seventy eight degrees Fahrenheit up at the exposed areas of the Mountain Pine Ridge and along the Maya Mountains in the south.

The tides: there will a high tide at twenty eight minutes past ten o’clock tonight. A low tide follows at eighteen minutes past three o’clock in the morning.

The sun will rise at twenty two minutes past five o’clock tomorrow morning. The sun will set at six thirty one tomorrow evening.

The extended forecast, valid through to Friday is for continuing cloudy skies on Thursday night with some showers and thunderstorms mainly over the south, becoming partly cloudy on Friday with generally isolated showers and thunderstorms.
