By Patrick E. Jones on July 14, 2015
Belize City, Belize. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Belize City resident Denton Requena has been jailed for wounding a woman.
Requena was found guilty of a charge of wounding Gloria Nunez and sent to jail for 6 months by Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith.
According to court documents, on August 24, 2014, Requena attacked Gloria Nunez on Mahogany Street with a baseball bat, causing a wound to the left side of her head.
Police officers responding to the scene testified that they saw Requena during the attack, and that Requena admitted to attacking Nunez.
However, in his unsworn statement, Requena claimed to be defending himself from Nunez.
