Building gutted by fire in Camalote village
Friday, October 23, 2015. Camalote village, Cayo. Police in Belmopan are investigating a suspected case of arson.
It happened late last night in Camalote village.
Officers from the Roaring Creek police station, responded to reports of the fire around 11:45 pm on Thursday in Camalote village, and upon their arrival, found a wooden house 20 feet by 30 feet, engulfed in flames.
Police reports say the fire was extinguished by personnel of the Belmopan Fire Service.
The house which was gutted by the fire was used as the constituency office for the United Democratic Party (UDP) Cayo South standard bearer Ralph Huang.
Police say the entire interior of the building was gutted. Preliminary estimates of the items inside of the building that were destroyed is put at $7,500.
Investigations are being carried out by both the Police and Fire Departments.
