Policeman charged for sexual assault of minor
San Pedro Town, BELIZE. Thursday, December 31, 2015. TNC: Another police officer finds himself on the opposite side of the law he is sworn to uphold and enforce.
Police Constable #1661 Kyle Serano, attached to the San Pedro Police Formation has been arrested and charged with three counts of sexual assault.
The charge against Serano, 26, arose out of an allegation made by a thirteen year old girl, that on three separate occasions at the end of November and the start of this month, PC Serano sexually assaulted her.
When he was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, PC Serano was unrepresented by an attorney.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
The prosecution objected to bail on grounds that since the accuser is a minor, PC Serano might try to interfere with her.
The Magistrate upheld the objections and remanded PC Serano to the Belize Central Prison until his next court appearance in January 26, 2016.
Police Constable Kyle Serano was named as Officer of the Month for July 2014 by the San Pedro Police.
