BTB staff members donate to charitable organization
Belize City, BELIZE. Monday,January 11, 2016. TNC: Staff of the Belize Tourism Board’s Social Committee have made a contribution to a Belize City-based charitable organization known as “together We Can Stop Hunger.”
A brief press release from the BTB says that over the recent Christmas holidays, staff were asked to donate clothing, shoes and food items which were in turn presented to the co-founder of the program Geraldine Mai.
The “Together We Can Stop Hunger” program provides meals for persons and families who are in need.
According to the BTB release, it currently provides meals for thirteen families as well as about fifty homeless persons.
BTB says that the Social Committee will continue to be active this year and will contribute to similar initiatives as an avenue through which the staff of the Belize Tourism Board can give back to the community.
The “Together We Can Stop Hunger” organization is led by the mother/son team of Geraldine Mai and son Shaheed Mai.
Their outreach to the homeless runs from Monday to Saturday. They also provide a weekly food hamper, consisting of mostly rice, beans, milk, bread and canned foods, to over a dozen needy families.
