High School student takes her life

San Ignacio, CAYO. Wednesday, January 13, 2016. TNC: A family in San Ignacio is mourning the death of 15 year old Abigail Leann Pott.

Information received is that Pott, who attended the Mopan Technical High School, took her own life last night.

The National Channel, TNC, extends condolences to the Pott family during this most difficult time.

As they prepare to lay the teenager to rest, there are many questions that are left unanswered, including what led Abigail to take her own life.

According to San Ignacio police, 64 year old Estella Pott reported that around 6 o’clock on Tuesday evening, she was in the process of preparing supper for her granddaughters, one of who is Abigail Pott, when the teenager was found hanging in her bedroom.

Her older sister reported made the discovery.

The bedroom door was forced opened and an attempt was made to rescue the teenager; but she had apparently already perished.

Police say that Abigal Pott was pronounced dead on arrival at the La Loma Luz Hospital in Santa Elena town.

Authorities say that as they processed the scene, a suicide note and a letter were found inside of Abigail’s school bag.
