Fatal accident on the Placencia Road

Placencia, STANN CREEK. Monday, January 25, 2016. TNC: An early Sunday morning road traffic accident in the Stann Creek district has left one man dead and another hospitalized in a serious condition.

Police say that around 2 am on Sunday, 21 year old Herlin Geovanni Rhodas of Santa Cruz village was driving his motorcycle on the Placencia road when he lost control, ran off the road and ended up in a deep drain.

Accompanying Rhodas at the time was 25 year old Yuri Guarra, also a resident of Santa Cruz village.

Both Rhodas and Guerra sustained head and body injuries and were taken to the Southern Regional Hospital in Dangriga town for medical treatment. Police say that Herlin Rhodas died while receiving treatment.

Yuri Guerra is admitted to ward and listed in a serious but stable condition.

Authorities say the fatal crash happened about a half mile from the junction of Riversdale and the road leading to the Sagitun Banana Farm.
