Caye Caulker killed in stabbing incident
Caye Caulker, BELIZE. Monday, April 18, 2016. Police in Caye Caulker village are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was stabbed on Saturday night.
Thirty one year old Leon Gordon died early on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
He had been stabbed on Sunday night during an altercation where he was trying to be a peacemaker.
Preliminary indications are that a Caye Caulker youth was causing a disturbance at a local establishment and the owner asked him to leave.
That caused a physical confrontation with the owner and it was during that misunderstanding that Gordon intervened and was stabbed multiple times.
West Vision News understands that police in Caye Caulker have detained two persons, one of whom is from Belize City as their investigation of the fatal stabbing incident continues.
One of the detainees is believed to be the main suspect in the fatal stabbing incident.
Leon Gordon is originally from Ladyville village but has been resident and working in Caye Caulker village for nearly two decades.
Police investigations continue.
