Police nab Shane Bennett in Placencia village

Placencia, STANN CREEK. Wednesday, April 20, 2016. A joint operation was conducted today, Wednesday, April 20, which led to the apprehension of 29 year old Shane Bennett.

He has escaped from the holding cell at the Independence police station some months ago and has been eluding authorities ever since.

Police say Bennett was apprehended during the mid-morning operation which involved Special Branch, Crimes Investigations Branch and officers from the Placencia Police sub-formation.

He was found hiding at a home in Placencia village.

A friend of Bennett, who is believed to have been aiding and abetting the fugitive, was also taken into custody by police.

Authorities believe that Shane Bennett is the main suspect in the murder of Independence village resident Dwayne Logan.
