Police identifies victims of double homicides
Friday, April 29, 2016. San Ignacio, CAYO. Two Guatemalan nationals were murdered on Thursday afternoon on the outskirts of San Ignacio town in what authorities believe was a drug transaction.
The deceased have been identified as 52 year old Santos Ramon Gonzalez Gomez and 37 year old Orlando Garcia Calletal.
The official police report says that when investigators arrived at the scene on a feeder road off the George Price Highway between miles 69 and 70 just after 2 pm on Thursday, they found the bodies with apparent gunshot wounds to the head.
A total of 4 expended 9-millimeter expended shells were found at the scene.
The bodies of Donzalez and Gardia now await a post mortem examination. San Ignacio police believe that the motive for the execution-style murders is drug-related.
Police in San Ignacio have updated the embassy of Guatemala on the incident and the official investigation by local authorities continues.
