OAS to help Guatemala with transparency and good governance
San Ignacio, CAYO. Thursday, May 19, 2016. The government of Guatemala is getting help from the Organization of American States (OAS) to make its public administration more transparent and participatory.
An official release from the OAS says the hemispheric organization will offer support to Guatemala “in the development of a strategy of open government … better governance … and greater social inclusion.”
The OAS statement says the OAS support comes at the request of president Jimmy Morales.
The effort started with the deployment of a mission this week for preliminary meetings with government authorities, civil society organizations.
Those meetings began earlier this week and will give the mission, headed by OAS Secretary for Hemispheric Affairs James Lambert, crucial information that will help to formulate the assistance that the OAS will provide.
