Cyclist dies after being knocked down

Belize City, BELIZE. Sunday, December 25, 2016. A traffic incident on the George Price Highway on Saturday night has left one man dead.

The victim has been identified as Gilbert Myers.

According to reports, Myers was west-bound on a bicycle around 8 o’clock last night when he was knocked down near mile 3 on the George Price Highway by a pickup truck that was heading in the same direction.

Myers reported sustained massive head and body injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck has been detained by police pending ongoing police investigations.
