Man murdered in Punta Gorda town
Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Saturday, January 7, 2017. Residents of the quiet, coastal town of Punta Gorda were shocked by a late Friday evening homicide in the municipality.
The victim has been identified as 35 year old Alexander Palacios, Jr, of Sapodilla Street.
According to information received, the shooting happened around 7:30 pm on Friday, January 6, 2017, on Santa Maria Street.
Palacios was shot to the back and died at the scene.
He was a recent parolee from the Belize Central Prison and was staying with family members in Punta Gorda at the time of his demise.
The official police report says that Palacios was walking on Santa Maria Street, when two men approached him from behind.
One of the men reportedly fired several shots towards Palacios causing the fatal injuries injury.
The two unknown male persons then made good their escape.
Police investigation into this fatal shooting incident continues.
