Japan donates vehicles to be used in emergency operations
Belize City, BELIZE. Thursday, January 12, 2017. The government of Japan has gifted Belize with three high-end utility vehicles.
The trucks are fully outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment in order to serve as on-site command centers.
One of the vehicles is assigned to the National Fire Service, one to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), and the other to the Belize Police Department.
The vehicles are intended for use as a mobile office in times of disasters such as flooding, fire or a hurricane.
The trucks are equipped with storage space, sleeping accommodations and bathroom, among other facilities.
It will also give users an opportunity to be able to communicate seamlessly with the rest of the country.
The trucks were handed over in Belize City on Wednesday by the vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Shunsike Takey.
The donation is part of the Japan Non-Project Grant Aid for Provision of Industrial Products.
Training will also be provided to Belizeans on how to operate and maintain these vehicles.
