Businessman faces charge for discharging firearm in public
Dangriga, STANN CREEK. Thursday, February 2, 2017. An irate businessman from the Maya Beach area on the Placencia Peninsula was being held in detention Thursday after he allegedly discharged his licensed firearm in public.
Canlin Su, 59, is alleged to have assaulted a couple of employees of the Placencia Casino around 1:38 am on Wednesday, left the establishment and then returned.
Upon his return, Su is reported to have banged on the casino doors and then fired shots in the air.
The manager of the establishment called the police and with officers arrived about 20 minutes later they found Canlin Su in possession of a firearm in front of the Casino.
Police have since confiscated the licensed 9 millimeter pistol with a magazine containing 11 live rounds. Su was also detained pending a charge of discharging a firearm in public.
