Fire in Bella Vista village
By Patrick E. Jones on May 15, 2017
Monday, May 15, 2017. Bella Vista, Toledo. Three children, including a two year old, had to be rescued from a burning building on Saturday morning in Bella Vista village, Toledo district.
When police arrived at the scene around 11 am on Saturday, they found a wooden structure with thatched roof engulfed in flames.
Authorities say that that their initial investigation shows that a forty year old woman left her three children, ages 2 years, 6 years and 16 years old at home and went to the nearby community of San Isidro.
The mother reportedly left home around 7 am on Saturday and four hours later, an alert neighbor, saw smoke coming from the house and went to the children’s rescue.
They were not physically hurt.
Investigators say they have since learned that one of the children was playing with a lighter which caused the fire, gutting the building.
