Lady Comets team wins Junior Softball championship
Jacintoville, TOLEDO. Monday, July 22, 2019. The Lady Comets fast pitch softball team is a group of young girls – and some older women – who came together earlier this year to learn and play the sport of softball.
Most of the girls, ages pre-teen to late teens, are attending either Primary School or High School.
The Lady Comets team, like their counterparts from Barranco village, are pioneers in the re-establishment of women’s softball in the Toledo district.
The Lady Comets won all of their games in the regular season and bested their rivals from Barranco to claim the 2019 Junior women’s fast pitch championship for Toledo.
The team will be presented with their medals after an exhibition game on Tuesday night, July 23 in Jacintoville village.
Meanwhile, the TFOCC Nationals, a group of young boys from age 7 years old to 17 years old will be going up against rivals from Barranco village for the Little League Baseball championship.
The TFOCC Nationals went through the inaugural Sybil League competition undefeated; but it all comes down to this final showdown to determine who has bragging rights to the best in Little League Baseball in Toledo for 2019.
Games were played every Saturday starting back in May, 2019 rotating between Jacintoville, Barranco, Otoxha and Forest Home.
The Jungle Boys from Otoxha won the Bronze medal when Forest Home decided to forfeit the remainder of their season. First pitch in Tuesday night’s championship is at 6 pm at the Jacintoville football field.
