Man murdered in Jalacte village, Toledo
Police are investigating the killing of a man in Jalacte village, Toledo over the weekend.
The name of the victim has not been released and neither is the name of the suspected murderer. Police say two Guatemalan men begged lodging at the home of a Jalacte village resident on Friday evening.
The man says he agreed that the two men could stay at his house.
The Good Samaritan says that he left home on Friday night, leaving his two guests at the house.
When he returned home later that night, the Jalacte village resident says he met only one of his guests.
When he inquired about the whereabouts of the other man, the response was reportedly that the police took him away, which turns out not to be the case.
On Saturday morning, barking dogs alerted the Jalacte resident of something in the bushes behind his house.
When he went to investigate, he found the body of the second Guatemalan national with multiple injuries, including cut wounds and a stab wound to the back.
The whereabouts of the other Guatemalan is not known and it appears that he might have returned across the border into Guatemala.
