A Police Constable Is Arrested For Extortion
ANOTHER ALLEGED CORRUPT COP:
Police in Belize City have arrested one of their own on a charge of extortion.
Police Constable #1427 Dayston Sacasa was booked on the extortion charge after an internal investigation revealed that PC Sacasa allegedly took money from two detainees to have them released.
The case came to the attention of the police around 10 am today, an investigation was immediately launched.
The two detainees were in custody pending charges for the possession of controlled drugs. But while in the holding cell at the Precinct Two station on Racoon Street, the two men allegedly paid PC Sacasa $50 each to secure their release from police custody.
When PC Sacasa was confronted with the allegation against him, he was searched and police say the search turned up (1) $50.00Bcy, (3) $10.00Bcy and (1) $20.00Bcy and (1) $1.00Bcy coin were found in his possession.
PC Sacasa has since been charged for the crime of Extortion.
According to police press officer Raphael Martinez the commissioner of police continues to express zero tolerance to any unprofessional behavior from his police officers and continue to request the communities support in this endeavor.
