Armed robbery in San Ignacio town, Cayo
Police in San Ignacio town today released details of an armed robbery on Sunday morning. The incident happened around 8:15 am in Sunday at Kenny’s Store.
The proprietor of the establishment, Xian Rong Chen, told police that two unmasked persons, one armed with a firearm and the other with a knife, went into Kenny’s Store and held him and his worker up.
The robbers, according to Chen, demanded money and he complied by handing over $2,000 in cash and a Belize Bank cheque from another company in the amount of $380.
Chen says that he was then taken outside and that the person with the knife proceeded to search the cash register and helped himself to $300 in cash.
The robber with the knife, according to the official report, also took a Mitsubishi brand laptop valued at $1,300.00; a black in color laptop used for selling Boledo and valued at $1,500.00 and one I-phone valued at $1,200.
All total, the robbers made off with $6,680 in cash and electronic items.
Police investigations continue.
