BDF volunteers attend annual battle camp
The annual Battle Camp for the volunteer battalion of the Belize Defense Force (BDF) is winding down in Cayo. Since July 12, the men and women of the Volunteer Battalion have been engaged in the military exercise at Camp Belizario in Central Farm, formerly known at Holdfast Camp. On Friday, the Honourable the Minister of National Security Mr. John Saldivar visited the volunteers and congratulated them for their unselfish service to the country. According to a
government press release, participants in the camp are being instructed on operations conducted in what the BDF calls Western Tactical Area of Responsibility. “This includes internal security; assisting and supporting agencies such as Immigration, Customs, Belize Agriculture Health Authority (BAHA), National Institute for Culture and History (NICH) and the Police; inland and border patrols; and manning observation/conservation posts.'” according tot he statement. A few days before, the commander of the BDF Brigadier General David Jones also visited with the volunteer soldiers.
