Belize represented at EU-ECLAC meeting
Belmopan, CAYO. Tuesday, July 18, 2018. Belize was represented this week at the second meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Caribbean and Latin america as the European Union.
The meeting was held on Monday and Tuesday n Brussels, Belgium.
The Belize delegation to the meeting was led by Attorney General Michael Peyrifitte.
According to a government press release, “the Foreign Ministers of both regions came together to discuss their bi-regional relations under the theme “Building Bridges and Strengthening Our Partnership to Face Global Challenges.”
The official release says that the “Ministers exchanged views concerning strengthening cooperation in global forums, the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and inclusive and sustainable economies, trade, investment, and
productivity.”
The official release goes on to explain that following the European Union/ECLAC meeting, there was a meeting between CARIFORUM ministers of Foreign Affairs and he vice president of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
That meeting, the release says, “provided a forum for dialogue focused on issues of major interest for both regions, most notably on climate change and the Caribbean region’s vulnerability to natural disasters.”
Other members of the Belize delegation to the EU/ECLAC meeting were Ambassador Dylan Vernon and First Secretaries Raineldo Urbina and Krysta Byrd.
