Belizean artists carry out charity art visual arts projects
Reports from Suriname say that members of Belize’s delegation to CARIFESTA XI continue to represent the jewel well.
As part of activities for CARIFESTA, Belizean artists Alex Sanker and Rachael Heusner traveled to Brokopondo_Ananie Strand, which is a small village outside of Paramaribo where they engaged in expressive charity work in visual arts.
According to West Vision correspondent at CARIFESTA XI Aurelio Sho, Sanker did a mural depicting the village setting, with native dancing around a camp fire, beating of the drums and the river, mountains and thatched houses as backdrops.
For her part Heusner’s mural represented the rich, colorful setting featuring the native Maroon people of Brokopondo-Ananie Strand.
According to Aurelio Sho, the artists’ first charity work was at one of Suriname’s famous outdoor museum.
Sanker’s mural at that location depicted a native Indian of Suriname on a cement bench; while Heusner’s mural depicted lovers color on the cement benches.
