The global police organization known as INTERPOL has issued a wanted bulletin for Belizean national Michael Joseph Silva, 28.
The bulletin posted on the organization’s website states that Silva, originally from Cayo, is wanted by Belizean law enforcement authorities for the crime of murder.
Silva is wanted by police for questioning in connection with the death of Maritza Santos, 19, who died on the night of Friday, September 23, 2011.
Police visited Silva’s house in the Kontiki area of San Ignacio town where they found the body of Santos in one of the bedrooms with a large wound to the right side of her head.
Silva was initially hospitalized in Belize City because he is reported to have ingested the powerful herbicide Paraquat.
Silva was later released from the hospital in Belize City and sought further medical treatment abroad and has not returned to Belize.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Michael Silva is asked to contact their local police or the INTERPOL general secretariat.
