San Ignacio boledo vendor Godfrey Tillett, 69, has had a fair amount of physical attacks in his lifetime. And he has one more to add to the long list of criminal violence against him.

It happened around 6:26 pm on Monday in Esperanza village, Cayo.  Tillett, who travels the George Price Highway daily to sell boledo tickets, was at his usual stop in Esperanza village at the Trash top Bar, when he was accosted by two men.

One of the men reportedly pointed a gun in Tillett’s face as they demanded money. According to Tillett, as he was held up one of the men reached into his pockets and relieved him of over four hundred dollars in cash.

The robbers also took away his bag with an undetermined amount of coins and they also tried to rob Tillett of his shoes. Before fleeing into nearby bushes the robbers allegedly struck Tillett in the back of the head, rendering him unconscious for a short while.

When he went to the police station to report the armed robbery, Tillett told authorities that he could not recognize his attackers because the area where the crime took place was dark and everything happened quickly.

A doctor has classified Tiillett’s injuries as wounding. Police investigations continue.
