Boy accused of sexual assault taken into custody

Police in San Ignacio town have detained a boy under the age of 18 after it was alleged that he sexually assaulted a three year old girl.

The incident, classified by police as aggravated assault of an indecent nature, reportedly happened on Monday evening in Bullet Tree Falls village.

West Vision News understands that the boy went to the home of the little girl around 5 pm on Monday.

The girl’s mother is telling police that she spoke with the boy for a while and then went into another room to get some clothes.  Shortly after, the mother says, her three year old daughter came towards her without her underwear and bleeding from her vagina.

The mother says that when she asked the girl what happened to her, she was told that the boy had sexually assaulted her with his finger.

Police say that a medical examination of the girl was conducted and the doctor certified that she was assaulted.  Police have detained the male minor pending the outcome of their investigation.
