By Patrick E. Jones on June 8, 2015
Sandhill, Belize District. Monday, June 8, 2015. The other fatal weekend traffic accident happened on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
It claimed the life of 57 year old Oscar Chacon, a resident of Burrel Boom village.
Police say that the driver of the SUV that knocked down Chacon, 30 year old Kayir Benavidez, told them that he was enroute to Belize City when upon reaching miles eighteen and a half he observed Chacon running across the highway.
Benavidez told police that Chacon suddenly attempted to walk back to the side of the road he had just crossed and that he could not avoid hitting the man.
Chacon died on the spot. Police investigations continue.
