Cayo senior citizen brutally attacked in home invasion
San Ignacio, CAYO. Thursday, September 29, 2016. A senior citizen from Santa Familia village was the victim of a brutal home invasion tonight.
Tanishlau Carrias, who is in his early 80’s, was at home tonight when a man and a woman barged into his house and attacked and beat him up.
Indications are that the robbers tried to throw Carrias off his elevated veranda.
During the attack on the senior citizen, he was stabbed to the head.
After the attack, Carrias’ granddaughter who lives nearby heard his cry for help and alerted other family members who rushed to his assistance.
Tanishlau Carrias was rushed to the San Ignacio Community Hospital for medical treatment, but his injuries were such that he had to be transferred to the Western Regional in Belmopan.
When family members realized what had happened, they banded together and organized an immediate search party that went looking for the attacked, who escaped from Carrias’ house on foot and disappeared into the night.
It wasn’t long before the search party of sons, grandsons and cousins found the alleged attackers, a man and a woman who spoke Spanish, in nearby Billy White village.
The alleged robbers were administered some village justice with a severe beating at the hands of Carrias’ family and reports are that things could have been worst for the duo had the police not intervened.
