Community group carries out beach cleanup in Dangriga
Dangriga town. Monday, April 13, 2015. Gwen Nunez-Gonzales Reporting: Equipped with rakes and hoes The Brothers and Sisters Keepers Group continues to transform the sea front in the northern side of beautiful Dangriga.
The group’s leader, Clarence Castillo known as “Sarali” ,began the mission about a month ago in his quest to see a clean and beautiful beach.
He said that the primary focus of the group is to restore the beach from its eroded state, which also provides an area of relaxation for community members.
Sarali said that the few members are focusing of clearing the entire area from in front of the Dangriga Cemetery to the Old Round House Area.
So far they have built two thatched sheds and are planning to develop the area.
They are kindly asking supporters to provide rakes, hoes, working utensils and financial contribution to assist with the continuity of the process.
Although it is hard work the members said that they receive gratification in seeing others enjoying the fruits of their labour.
Anyone or group wishing to assist is welcomed.
Many residents have expressed their joy with the clearance and have been enjoying the area when they go by the beach to swim or just de-stress after a funeral.
