Comparative crime statistics show reduction
The Ministry of National Security today announced that the Southern Zone, headed by Senior Superintendent Robert Mariano, outperformed the other police formations in the reduction of crimes during the month of September.
During the monthly commanders meeting which was held at the Police Training Academy in Belmopan, the Honorable the Minister of National Security Mr. John Saldivar presented a cheque for $1,000 to Senior Superintendent Mariano.
According to a government press release, while the Southern Zone saw the greatest reduction in major crimes for the month of September, the Placencia sub-formation under the leadership of Inspector Mark Flowers performed the best in the region.
Meanwhile the comparative crime statistics for the first nine months of 2013 show a reduction in murder, shooting incidents, rape, robbery and burglary over the same period in 2012.
Theft and Carnal Knowledge are two of the “major crimes” that saw increases this year over the last.
