Crime Beat: policemen arrested, elderly man attacked & more
On Thursday evening of last week, a 34-year-old mother of Bella Vista Village in the Stann Creek district accompanied 13-year-old daughter to the police station to report that her daughter informed her that she was at the bar along with two police officers identified as Police Constables Chub and Ical one of whom had sexual intercourse with her. A medical examination was conducted which certified that the child was carnally known. Police have since arrested and charged Both P.C Arsenio Chub and P.C Arnaldo Ical one count each for Sexual and Common Assault and P.C Ical for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse.
At about six o’clock on Saturday morning, police visited number four Hyde’s Lane, Belize City, where they saw 88-year-old Robert Acosta suffering from multiple stab wounds to the left side of the neck and left shoulder. Initial Investigation revealed that sometime between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., Mr. Acosta was awaken by a noise in his house and upon making checks saw a male person of dark complexion wearing a white shirt who upon seeing him inflicted the injuries on him and made good his escape. Nothing was stolen from inside of the house. Acosta was admitted at the K.H.M.H hospital in a stable condition. Police investigations continue.
On Saturday afternoon while conducting operations in San Pedro town, police say they searched a hotel room occupied at the time by 27-year-old Paul Jamil Jex, 25-year-old Eustace Lewis, 28-year-old Shane Mcfoy all of Belize City, 29-year-old Jason Gillett of San Mateo area San Pedro Town and 29-year-old Earl Acosta of San Pedro. During the search police found a black plastic bag containing seventy point four grams of Cannabis. They were all arrested and charged jointly with the offence of “Drug Trafficking”. A further search of Paul Jamil Jex’s hotel yielded a purse that contained some transparent plastic bags which amounted to 24 small parcels which amounted to twenty three point seven grams of Cannabis and a shoe box containing some U.S and Belize currency in cash totaling one thousand, seven hundred and sixty seven dollars. Paul Jamil Jex was additionally charged for “Possession of a controlled Drug, that is twenty three point seven grams of Cannabis
On Friday, Orange Walk police on mobile patrol pursued a Cadillac SUV into the San Antonio Road that was being driven at the time by 27-year-old Jaime Ciego of Orange Walk Town. While on San Antonio Road police saw when a black firearm was thrown out of the Cadillac. Jaime Ciego was then escorted back to the location where he had thrown the firearm which was then retrieved. The firearm was a black and chrome Ruger P-95 without Serial Number with an empty magazine inside. Police then arrested and charged Jaime Ciego for the offence of “Kept Unlicensed Firearm”.
Police visited an area between miles 24 and 23 on the Southern Highway on Friday night where they saw 31-year-old Sylvestre Bah, Belizean supervisor of Santa Cruz Village, Stann Creek District lying face down on the right hand side of the highway with severe head and body injuries. A blue Hurricane Golden Cycle beach cruiser bicycle was seen lying near his feet. Initial investigation, revealed that Bah left his home at around 2:30 on Saturday afternoon on his bicycle to an unknown destination. He was not heard from again until police found his body around nine thirty that same night in what has been described as a fatal hit and run traffic accident.
