Dangriga Cancer Walk brings out hundreds
Dangriga, Stann Creek. Monday, May 11, 2015. The annual Caner walk sponsored by the Dangriga Cancer Society was held on Saturday morning.
Over six hundred men, women and children turned out at dawn on Saturday and braved an early morning rain shower to take part in the walk which started at the Xaibel Gas Station and culminated at the Drums of our Father’s Monument, for a total of six miles.
The theme for this year’s Cancer Walk was Cancer Control Not Beyond Us.
At the start of the walk, a short welcome address was given by the president of the Dangriga Cancer Society Lisa Cheng and a prayer was said by Reverend Barbara Rosado.
According to our reports, two minutes into the six-mile walk, the rain came down but everyone kept walking, something which organizers say showed real dedication of those who came out to walk on Saturday.
The youngest participant in Saturday’s event was one year old and the eldest was eighty two years old.
