Detainee found dead in police cell block

Belize City, BELIZE. Monday, June 25, 2018. A man was found dead in the cell block at the Crooked Tree village police station.
The body of 56 year old Lindberg Anthony was found inside the cell block around 9:46 on Saturday night, June 23.
He had apparently hung himself.
According to police, Anthony had been detained earlier in the evening, allegedly because “he was under the influence of alcohol and for the offence of indecent words.”
That detention took place at 7:45 pm according to police.
The official report said that while making checks at 9:46 pm, police found Anthony’s body with a cloth tied around the neck and affixed to a window of the cell block.
