Domestic incident leaves one dead, one in police detention
San Pedro Town, AMBERGRIS CAYE. Monday, March 7, 2016. Another fatality arising out of a domestic dispute has been reported.
Information received says that late last night a couple in the San Pedrito area of San Pedro town on Ambergris Caye, was involved in a domestic dispute which left Rommel Catzim dead.
He was stabbed multiple times.
Police have since detained his wife, pending murder investigation.
The San Pedro Sun newspaper is reporting that Catzim sustained stab wounds to the chest and back.
When police arrived at the couple’s apartment, they found Rommel Catzim on the veranda of the second floor building.
The San Pedro Sun Newspaper quotes Inspector Henry Jemmott as saying that the couple was socializing on Sunday night and had both been under the influence of alcohol when they started to fight.
The wife is reported to have gone home and when Rommel Catzim arrived at the couple’s apartment later, the dispute continued during which the wife allegedly inflicted the fatal stab wounds.
Catzim’s wife is in police detention pending a murder charge.
