Early start to 2020 Hurricane Season
Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Tuesday, May 12, 2020. Two and a half weeks before the official start of the 2020 Tropical Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season, the predicted above average season appears to be stirring up.
Forecasters at the Miami-based National Hurricane Center have issued the first “Special” advisory for an area of low pressure that is expected to develop this weekend northeast of the Bahamas.
The NHS advisory says that “environmental conditions appear conducive for this system to acquire some subtropical characteristics as it moves northeastward through Sunday.”
Whatever becomes of this system, it does not pose any threat whatsoever to Belize and her coastal waters at this time.
