Father of missing boy speaks, says “they never took care of my son”
Cuxlin Ha Community, Toledo. Monday, August 3, 2015. The father of 9 year old Jason Pau who went missing on Friday during a field trip with a visiting church group from the United States has broken his silence and says the family is struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
Eduardo Pau spoke exclusively with our colleagues at Ak’kutan Radio and in his first public comments since his son’s disappearance on the field trip said that “what hurts me is that the American people went to my house to ask for permission for my son to go with them; but they never took care of my son.”
The elder Pau says that the situation has hit his family particularly hard, especially his wife who suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.
She has not been feeling well since Friday, according to Pau.
The 9 year old boy, originally from Kuxlin Ha community, which is located behind Elridgeville, was among a group of 35 that went to Blue Creek village on Friday for an outing at the end of summer Bible Classes.
Eduardo Pau says that he blames the tour guide for what happened because, in his words “the tour guide never did tell them the urles correctly and then they let my son climb the rocks nobody was taking care of my son.”
Officially Jason Pau is still listed as “Missing” and a search continues for him; but late this evening, reports from Blue Creek village and one of the searchers is that a strong odor has been detected in the cave.
At daybreak, searchers are expected to concentrate their efforts where the odor was detected.
On Saturday morning senior tour guide Sylvano Sho opined that Jason Pau may have jumped down into what is described as a “whirlpool” that is at the left side of the entrance to the cave as he was last seen near the rocks above the water.
Scuba divers have scoured the area but up to this evening, the boy remains missing.
Members of the Methodist Mission Group with whom Jason went on the field trip on Friday, along with tour guides from Blue Creek and other residents, hiked up to Santa Cruz in a last sweep of the jungle to try and locate the boy, but returned without finding him.

This is so heartbreaking. Can’t imagine the family’s grief. A serious investigation needs to start right now, even as they search for the boy.

What is worrying is that the missionary group is leaving the country later this week. I know it might be inconvenience, but they should not be allowed to leave until a proper investigation is done. This cannot just be left as an unsolved mystery.
