Fire guts garage near Blue Creek village, Toledo
Mafredi village, Toledo. Tuesday, April 7, 2015. A fire on Easter Monday just outside of Blue Creek village, Toledo gutted a building that was used as a garage/workshop.
Officials of the Belize Fire Service, Punta Gorda branch are currently investigating the origins of the blaze; but indications are that a spark from welding being done in the workshop may have ignited the gas and oil in the garage.
When fire personnel arrived at the scene around 9:30 am on Monday, they found the 80 by 150 feet structure smouldering and finished putting out the fire.
The garage/workshop is located about a mile outside of Blue Creek village.
The estimate of the damage caused by the fire is set at between $50,000 and $75,000.
