Flood mitigation project brings road rehabilitation to Belize Rural North
Maskall village, BELIZE DISTRICT. Saturday, February 20, 2016. Work has begun on the rehabilitation of the stretch of road between Maskall and Bomba villages in the Belize District.
The work being carried out is part of a flood mitigation initiative.
The project, according to an official release from area representative Edmund Castro, involves the elevation of the access road from Maskall to Bomba village with a number of cement culverts across the Quashy Banner Creek.
The area had been plagued by seasonal flooding which severely affects accessibility to and from Bomba, thereby inconveniencing residents of the village and farmers in the general area.
The government press release explains that the project is being funded by GOB and should be completed in the next couple of weeks.
Area representative Castro says similar projects in his constituency will be carried out before the start of the Hurricane Season.
