Former area representative to contest PUP convention in Cayo Central
Former two-term area representative for the People’s United Party (PUP) in Cayo Central Daniel Silva is returning to electoral politics.
At a meeting of the Cayo Central Division Committee on Monday night in San Ignacio, Mr. Silva announced that he will be contesting the upcoming standard bearer convention.
Chairman of the Divisional Committee, Senator Collet Montejo confirms that Silva has indicated his intention to contest the convention.
Silva is the second person to offer themselves as a candidate for the PUP in Cayo Central. Businessman Luke Espat announced his intention be a candidate in the convention.
Espat’s application to be a standard bearer candidate in the convention was submitted to the committee on Monday.
And while Silva and Espat are officially in the race, the current caretaker is Senator Montejo and there is every indication that he will also contest the upcoming convention.
