Forum on backyard garden underway in Punta Gorda town
By Patrick E. Jones on August 27, 2013
The St. Peter Claver Parish Hall in Punta Gorda town is today the venue for a one-day seminar on back yard gardening.
Over 100 residents of communities in rural Toledo are attending the forum, which is being coordinated by the non-governmental organization known as Plenty Belize.
Organizers say the objective of today’s forum is to train participants, including primary school students to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables and to instill a culture of agriculture at an early level.
With classes resuming on September 2nd, organizers say the plan is to assist all the schools in the Toledo district with the Primary School Backyard Garden Program.
