Galen University wins SSB regional debate competition
Belmopan, CAYO. Thursday, March 20, 2016. Yolanda Habet-Jones Reporting. The Regional Debate Competition sponsored by the Belize Social Security Board continued this morning in the nation’s capital, Belmopan.
It was the regional phase which saw John Paul the Second Junior College and Galen University square off on the debate stage.
The topic that was up for debate today was: “Be it resolved that gender identity is a product of nature.”
After a spirited debate with Galen University arguing in the affirmative, they were able to prevail against their opponents to win today’s debate.
We spoke with the winning debate team and asked them how much work went into securing today’s victory.
Although they did not win today’s debate, the team from John Paul II Junior College explained to West Vision News that they gave it all they could and it is just that their opponent was able to prevail but they are satisfied that much work went into the preparation for the debate.
The Social Security Board Debate Competition will culminate in April.
