Government offers compensation to Stephen Buckley
There are reports that Stephen Buckley, who was left paralyzed following a shooting by a policeman in April, 2010 is receiving compensation from the government of Belize.
Buckley and his attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley met with Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie this morning where he was informed that before the end of the week, Buckley will receive a cheque from the Ministry of Finance.
Bradley, in speaking with reporters, explained that the government payment expected this week will represent a “substantial” part payment towards a final amount being paid to Buckley.
The details of the compensation package offered to and accepted by Stephen Buckley have not been made public as yet and lawyers for Buckley and for the government of Belize will exchange vital information necessary to guide the arrival at a final compensation settlement, bearing in mind that the 2010 shooting has left Buckley incapacitated and unable to work.
Buckley was shot twice in the head on the night of April 28, 2010.

I am happy for him. I am happy that our humanity came out to minimize his pain. Lets hope we put in a permanent process to deal with issues like these in the future.
