Gunman robs BDF soldier
A Belize Defence Force soldier was the victim of an armed robbery on Sunday morning.
The 29 year old soldier, whose name has not been released by police, was walking on Mahogany Street in Belize Cit around 3:45 am on Sunday when he was accosted by a man riding on a bicycle.
Police say the man placed his hand on his waist and told the BDF soldier that “it’s a robbery.”
While the BDF soldier initially ran away, police say the gunman caught up with him a short distance away.
Armed with what police say was a black in color 9 millimeter pistol, the armed robber ordered the BDF soldier to empty his pockets. Police sa that fearing for his life, the BDF soldier complied and handed over his cell phone, a headphone, cigarette lighter and $3 in cash.
All total, the BDF soldier was robbed of $308 worth of personal belongings and cash. Police investigations continue.
