Hattieville man shot and killed in the village

Hattieville, BELIZE DISTRICT. Monday, January 11, 2016. TNC: A man was shot and killed last night in Hattieville village, Belize District.

The victim has been identified as forty one year old Cleon Smith.

Police say that just after seven o’clock on Sunday night, January 10, gunshots were heard in the Windmill area of Hattieville village and they responded.

Upon their arrival in the area, police say they saw Smith on the ground in front of a house on Sylvester Boulevard with multiple gunshot wounds.

Initial police investigations show that Smith was inside of a yard on Sylvester Boulevard when he was shot by an assailant.

Police say they have detained one man, pending investigations.
